The Idlewell well at blue hour, its lantern lit.

About Idlewell

A small studio in Denmark, founded in 2026, making idle games that are worth the space they take on your screen.

The name

A well is something that quietly fills while you’re away, and is there when you come back. That’s what a good idle game is, too.

The name also carries our standard. Idle, done well: craft in a genre better known for shortcuts. And it’s a wish for the people who play. Time spent with our games should leave you rested, not drained.

Who makes the games

Hi. I run Idlewell on my own, from Denmark. I started it to make the kind of idle game I wanted beside me while I work: something alive and lovely in the corner of the screen, with no ads nagging and no timers pushing.

I’m a player first. Lately that means a lot of hours in Path of Exile 2, which is about as far from idle as games get.

How the work gets done

Every fish in Tankbar is drawn live by the game’s own code, from its genes. No two come out the same.

Before anything ships, I check it myself at the size you’ll see it. A fish on a taskbar is tiny, so that’s the size where it has to look right.
